He took us to important place around town (e.g., Igreja do Carmo, Cathedral, several great vantage points). He did a very good job of explaining the different architectural styles of the buildings we walked along. We walked around Porto at a leisurely pace so that we were able to enjoy what we were seeing and to be able to ask questions. By the time we finished we had a better understanding of history but also of the geography of the city. André is very personable, has a good sense of humor, and answered all our questions. "We knew from the start that my husband and I were going to have a wonderful day exploring the Douro River Valley together with Anselmo. After an online consultation prior to our arrival, Anselmo tailored an off-the-beaten-path tour to address our historical, cultural and wine interests. He drove us through less-traveled scenic areas (we viewed the valley from both sides of the river!), provided insights to port wine making, treated us with local coffee and pastries at one of our stops, organized port and wine tastings, prearranged lunch at a vineyard overlooking the river valley, and capped off the sunny afternoon at a rustic vineyard as we toasted (with outstanding port) a fabulous day. The entire tour was one long conversation among the three of us. Anselmo is warm, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. (And he managed many curvy roads with skill!)
