"We (a group of 5 adults) had a wonderful experience exploring the Hidden Gems of Porto with Orlando. He’s an incredibly friendly and engaging guy, who clearly is extremely passionate about and proud of his city. We had a wonderful time chatting and getting to know him during our tour. Our tour was in English and his English is excellent. Our family was interested in learning about the history of the region; Orlando is incredibly knowledgeable in this topic. His tour covered many of the important historical landmarks while providing accompanying historical context. In our tour, he focused primarily on the older history of the city (between 1100 and around 1800). He also sprinkled in several truly hidden gems that we would never have heard of without him. For example, he took us to Porto’s Bank of Materials, a fascinating hub for Porto’s repair and conservation efforts. Additionally, Orlando’s deep knowledge of Porto’s history and his experience giving tours was best displayed by his ability to adapt the tour and make connections on the fly. As the tour went on and he learned more about us, he kept highlighting new points and places that related to our interests. This made the experience feel very personal and made it especially engaging. In addition to a great experience the day of, Orlando was awesome beforehand. Due to some last minute cancellations, we had to switch guides just a few days before our trip. Even with very short notice, Orlando was able to integrate us into his schedule without any troubles. He was also very communicative during these few days before, answering our questions about what to bring and how to prepare. We highly recommend. "

"We did a 5-hour walking tour around Porto with Gustavo, and I’ll admit, my wife and I were a little nervous about how long it would feel. But honestly, it went by way too fast. Gustavo kept us engaged the entire time. He showed us some really cool spots around the city and brought the history to life in a way that made it feel like we were stepping back in time. From learning that J.K. Rowling once lived there to noticing small historical details like imprints in the walls from past events and signatures etched into the stone, he pointed out things we never would have caught on our own. Every stop felt interesting and meaningful. We also went through Casa do Infante, which added another layer to understanding the history of the area. What really stood out was how entertaining he was and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. It never felt like a long tour; it felt like exploring the city with someone who truly loves it. "This was our first time booking a tour through "with locals." We were hoping for more of an insider's view of Porto that would include some iconic spots and also street art, places to shop where local artists are supported, and restaurant recommendations. Carlos delivered on all of this plus more: pointed out free museums (I visited the photo museum later - loved it!), a little history, fun facts, interesting stories, things to notice and look for in the architecture and tiles, an understanding of the layout of Porto... We tried many of the foods / spots Carlos recommended -- they were awesome! Carlos is warm and personable and an excellent guide! He definitely made our stay in Porto special. Thank you Carlos!!"
