"Our group of 4 had such a great trip to the Douro with Gustavo. He is knowledgeable, experienced and also passionate about the Douro. He kindly tailored the day to what we were keen to do and we tasted wines at a delightful family run place with awesome olive oil as well, lunch at a winery with a sensational view and lovely food and then another tasting at a bigger winery all the while filling us in on the history and life of the Douro. We really appreciated his willingness to be flexible with the day - thanks Gustavo for a memorable day trip we loved it. "

"Anselmo was on time, very good English and not only took us to the Douro Valley but took us to local places to emerse ourselves in to the culture of the area. Gave us all of the history dating back to the Roman times as to how the area (the terraces) were built and now why much of the land is owned and farmed by the British. His choice of wineries were first class, and we enjoyed the intimacy of a small group. It was well worth the extra for the comfort of just 4 people."

"We knew from the start that my husband and I were going to have a wonderful day exploring the Douro River Valley together with Anselmo. After an online consultation prior to our arrival, Anselmo tailored an off-the-beaten-path tour to address our historical, cultural and wine interests. He drove us through less-traveled scenic areas (we viewed the valley from both sides of the river!), provided insights to port wine making, treated us with local coffee and pastries at one of our stops, organized port and wine tastings, prearranged lunch at a vineyard overlooking the river valley, and capped off the sunny afternoon at a rustic vineyard as we toasted (with outstanding port) a fabulous day. The entire tour was one long conversation among the three of us. Anselmo is warm, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. (And he managed many curvy roads with skill!) We recommend without reservation hiring Anselmo to explore the history of Porto and to celebrate the riches of the Douro River Valley."

"We plan to move to Portugal someday and asked Joana to give us a tour with that in mind. She did an outstanding job. She knows everything. We started at the Lion fountain and she could tell us why their were suds in it (student prank during finals) and information about each site we passed. She chose a path through the city, across the river, to the gondolas and back again that was easy to walk and enchanting to see. During the walk she talked about things we would encounter living in Portugal. For example, if we got invited to a barbecue, it would be barbecued sardines. It was a lovely walk. We highly recommend her."
