"Thomas met us at our hotel and he took us to some amazing out of the way places south of Athens on the coast. He had drinks, snacks, his mom’s homemade Christmas cookies (amazing). He brought umbrellas and a knee brace for my wife, who had hurt her knee. We saw private beaches, a volcanic lake and a seaside chapel.
We saw the monument and had dinner at a beautiful gyro shop on the way home.
I give Thomas and his tour 10 out of 10. It was an amazing and informative day. "
"We (2 adults, 18 yo and 12 yo) drove from Athens to Cape Sounion in a roomy van. Nikos checked in advance and knew of a Santa run in downtown Athens so we met a couple of blocks from the hotel to avoid closed roads. He’s just completed an archeology degree and is extremely up to date on that information. We ate at a place he knew and it was one of our best meals. He showed us an ancient silver mine and reviewed the way the ore was handled, including a sluice that recycled freshwater. "
"We spent about six hours with Ioannis starting in Athens, and it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip. Our goal was to get outside the city and experience Greece like a local—and he delivered that and more. He took us along the stunning Sounion coast to see the Temple of Poseidon, then brought us to a truly non-touristy restaurant right on the water for lunch. The food was hands-down the best and most authentic we had during our 2+ weeks traveling through Italy and Greece, with a beautiful view to match.
Ioannis was delightful, engaging, and incredibly personable. He even surprised us with a quick visit to his adorable mother-in-law who insisted we pick some fruit from her lovely garden. He showed us how to drink ouzo properly (delicious!) and had the loveliest conversations—it felt warm, genuine, and completely unplanned in the best way. We started our trip with a week in Rome, followed by a 7-day cruise, and ended with four days in Athens, and our time with Ioannis truly stood out as a special, memorable experience. If you want to see Greece beyond the guidebooks and spend time with someone who genuinely loves sharing his country, we couldn’t recommend him more."

"We arrived in the early morning and arranged an orientation tour with Ioannis. At our request he showed us an easy way to get to the Acropolis, we passed by the Temple of Zeus, he showed us the cool neighborhood of the Plaka and kept two adults and two youngsters going to keep everyone awake. It was just what we needed. "

"We spent a beautiful afternoon in Athens with John- we had asked to do an \"off the beaten path tour\" of Athens to get a sense of the city without the crowds and John delivered beautifully!
We walked through side alleys full of beautiful restaurants, high end thrift stores, bakeries, coffee shops and more. We are a very curious group and thoroughly enjoyed Johns wealth of knowledge including Greek history, local lore and current events. We explored parts of the city we would not have found on our own and got a true local taste of the city. Highlight was the farmers markets, where locals shop for produce, seafood and meats.
A very special afternoon we highly recommend - five stars!!"
