"Isabel kindly hosted a large family group (10 people, ages 15-80), and we had a wonderful time. The table was beautifully set for us, and we enjoyed a large array of salads and starters to begin the meal along with a delicious white wine. The next course was a baked fish (hake in cream sauce topped with mashed potatoes), followed by a delicious pork dish from Isabel's home region in southern Portugal, and enjoyed with a delightful red wine. Although we were stuffed, we managed to enjoy the sweets to end the meal, pasteis de nata. Isabel was a warm and witty hostess."

"Dinner with Isabel and Chico is like visiting an old friend who is a great cook. Isabel made us comfortable the minute we walked in the door. We were relaxed and comfortable as if we had known her for years. There were six in our party and we are all good eaters. We could not begin to eat all the food Isabel served in spite of the fact she is a great cook. Not to mention the never ending bottles of wine. Chico, her dog is as friendly as she is and loves to play and be pet. His is very well behaved but if you encourage him he is more than willing to be your friend. I could go on and on about all the wonderful food and great conversation we shared that night but I won’t. Just book an evening with Isabel . I promise you it will be an evening and meal you will remember fondly. Then you two will have a new friend in Lisbon!"

"This is a great experience. Yeah, you can go to Portuguese restaurants and eat Portuguese food … but you can do that ANY day. The idea of eating with a local is so very personal and not commercial. So, first, the concept is great. Secondly, our host, Isabel, was very welcoming and pleasant and we were able to hear about her life and that of a resident. She is a very, very lovely person, a good conversationalist and a great cook. We had three bottles of wine between three of us (and there was plenty more if needed) and many starters (different cheeses, tomatoes, bread, etc.) - I probably would have been fine to stop there. Then Isabel brought out our first course of … of … not sure how to describe it. It was kind of like mashed potatoes with Cod and a coating of baked cheese atop - it’s Shepard’s Pie but with cod (is the closest I can think) but, regardless, it was gooooood. Our final dish was black pig … soooo good. Of course, we had to switch from white to red wine for this dish. Then entire night went too fast. Would strongly recommend anyone do this. Well worth it."

"My Aunt and I spent a fabulous evening with Isabel and her dogs. We had an amazing traditional dinner and conversations about history, art and family! We couldn’t recommend an evening with Isabel more. "

"For multiple reasons, I am very late writing this review of our Nov. 20, 2025 booking but we could not have been more pleased with our evening in Isabel's comfortable home. The food was a walk through some of Portugal's best dishes, perfectly prepared and everything very fresh. The conversation was easy and fun and ran the gamut of topics -- and her English is very good and easy to understand. Her two dogs were just sweeties and we were happy to give them some love. We were immediately at ease with Isabel and felt we'd made a good friend by the end of the evening. Her apartment was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel. After dinner, we all took the dogs for their evening walk and she delivered us to our hotel door. We hated to say goodnight. She also served some delicious wines and gave us links to ordering them for delivery in the U.S. and offered to share recipes. It was a perfect way to end our trip, as we flew home the next day with smiles and wonderful memories. We highly recommend this very personal way to experience food and friendship in Lisbon!"
