Raquel took the time to take us around the city centre and explained many historical and cultural aspects of the city that we never would have known without a guide like her. Raquel took into account what foods we really wanted to try, but also made sure that we tried foods we would only get in Oaxaca. She also broke up the tour between eating non-stop (which was fantastic), but also showing us the areas in the city and describing their cultural significance. She also taught us about the way food and the preparation methods of food have influenced the culture and habits of the people of Oaxaca.
