The second day we went to Hierve el Agua, Mitla and Teotitlán del Valle watched rug making, marveled at the ancient trees all while having good, interesting conversations with Tanivet. Our lunch stop was out of this world with a fabulous Mole tasting. The mandatory Mezcal distillery rounded out a perfect day. "We had a very memorable tour with Tanivet. A week before the tour, she sent a reminder for what to bring: sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes, etc. On the day of the tour, she picked us up from our lodging in Centro in the morning. Our driver Enrique took us to Monte Alaban, the archeological site. Tanivet gave us an overview of the history of this site, along with possible theories from different historians: why this site was abandoned, why it is named Monte Alban, etc. Then we walked around and learned so much about this site! Tanivet is so gentle, patient, and funny. She spent many days in her childhood at this site, while her father worked there as a retoration historian / archeologist. After the acheological site, we visited two more places in the surrounding area. On the way back to the city, we asked Tanivet and Enrique for restaurant recommendations in Centro. They gave us a list of restaurants that specialize in different Oaxacan dishes. After we made a decision, they kindly offered to drop us off at a restaurant not far from where we were staying. If you plan to visit Monte Alban, we highly recommend this tour! "

"We spent a day and a half with Tanivet and we highly recommend hiring her as your tour guide. She is warm, sincere, smart and easy to spend the day with. Her spoken English is great and she can converse on any topic, be it personal, professional, politics, history, economy, ecology, local arts, food, you name it.
