"We very much enjoyed our tour with Lisa. We visited places and enjoyed food we would never have found on our own. I very much appreciated walking and talking with Lisa also about Georgetown and the many cultures and food that make this fascinating city. Loved every minute and highly recommend Lisa. "
"Joo Bee showed us a wonderful time touring Penang. We booked the tour for our first day to see the city and get recommendations for our weekend and Joo Bee did not disappoint. We took in the street art while marking down restaurants and shops that she recommended we visit later. Great way to start our weekend. Highly recommend.

"This tour is an amazing experience that covers so more than just food. Remy is an incredibly interesting and passionate guy, who led us to food spots that we never would have discovered ourselves, coupled with wide-ranging chats about food, history, and philosophy. The relaxed pace of the tour shows that Remy really cares about his guests having a personalised experience. Highly recommend! "
"Lisa was a wonderful and knowledgable guide who showed us local food spots that we never would have discovered on our own! Our three kids - ages six to ten - enjoyed the outing very much as Lisa made sure to add and enough pit stops for sweets. And the adults got to enjoy some true delicacies and learned a lot about local culture. Added plus: Our vegetarians were also happy as we had tons of alternatives to meat and seafood dishes. Lastly for the kids it was great to have a German-speaking guide. Thanks again, Lisa, for the awesome experience!"
"We had a wonderful time with Joo Bee. She is very knowledgeable and was able to provide deep historical context for all the wonderful sites we visited."

Tasting tour
"Remy was friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. A great time tasting different foods and drinks whilst hearing his stories about Penang, his life and the foods. He had good rapport with all the traders. Everything was lovely and we even had some extra goodies to take back for later. Well worth the money for having a personal guide. "

"We really enjoyed our tour. Many of the spots Lisa took us to weren't on our radar. Lisa did an excellent job in describing the process of making many of the dishes. I believe she tailored our tour to not overlap our other Malaysian food experiences. Lisa was very engaging."
"Spending the morning with Joo Bee felt less like a guided tour and more like catching up with a dear friend who happens to know all the best secrets of Penang! She has this wonderful way of tuning in — and understanding your interests and needs on the day — and as a result, she led me to fascinating, tucked-away corners of the city I’d never have stumbled upon alone. Even better, she introduced me to the most delicious and interesting local food and drinks, all thoughtfully chosen to match my tastes and dietary needs — it honestly felt like every stop was picked just for me. Beyond the places and plates, it was her curious, spirited nature and rich local insights that made the day special. It wasn’t just a tour; it was a genuine experience of connection as well as a travel adventure, and one I’ll remember for a long time. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Joo Bee to anyone wanting to experience Penang through a more personal, insider’s lens."
"As we are planning to stay in Georgetown, Panang for several days, we really wanted some good advice about what and where to eat locally, rather than stick to the 'safe', overpriced and usually watered down food sold in the main tourist areas.
Remy started the tour by double checking our dietary needs, likes and dislikes and then took us on a thorough tour of street food venues. At each he gave a thorough explanation as to why it was a good one and what other dishes we should try if we went back by ourselves, as well as the best way to eat them. It's amazing what a difference it makes to mix certain things together rather than eat separately!
Remy also explained about the local history and religions, which helped us to focus on eating the range of delicious dishes he ordered for us. The whole tour was well planned and paced so that we had 'rest' drinks and snacks between larger dishes so that we didn't get uncomfortably full.
As well as showing us a range of places to go to for drinks afterwards, and introducing us to staff there, he also pointed venues to avoid for various reasons.
By the end of the tour, we had several bags of sweets, snacks and a meal to take with us, to enjoy later once we were hungry again. All were delicious and interesting and we returned today to buy more.
The tour definitely fulfilled its purpose for us and it was really enjoyable spending time with such a friendly and passionate local like Remy. We'd thoroughly recommend him as a guide. "
