Along the stops, he’d read a poem in the original language and then translate it, going into the deeper meaning behind the poems. "We chose this tour as a way to learn a bit about local history while in Rome, and this a brilliant insight! A really refreshing change from the standard tourist treks, Simone took us to a great range of the 'big hits' (Pantheon, Jewish Quarter) as well some gems we would never have wandered into by ourselves (Bibliotheca Angelica was breathtaking, as was the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere), all with really interesting insight into literature, poetry, drama and even food, giving a real insight into Roman character (which is frankly missing from your usual Colosseum or Vatican experience!) Highly recommended both for those who may be looking something a bit different, but really anyone who enjoys an insightful walking tour at a nice pace. Thanks to Simone for an engaging few hours!"
