Not only did Riccardo lead us through the Bologna food markets, sharing tasty treats with us, but, as we walked, he also educated us on the history and art of medieval and Renaissance Bologna, detouring at times through historic streets and buildings to give us a sense of what Bologna was like 500 to 1,000 years ago.
