"We did the Withlocals Helsinki Highlights & Hidden Gems tour with Anna, and it was a great way to start our time in the city. Anna was knowledgeable, warm, and especially good at reading what we were curious about and building on it in the moment - she answered all of our questions, expanded on certain ideas, made connections across history and culture, and shaped the conversation in a way that felt genuinely tailored to us.
As we walked, she shared clear, useful context on Swedish and Russian influence, Finland’s path to independence, and how those histories still show up in Helsinki today, along with thoughtful observations about where the city and country seem to be headed. It never felt scripted; more like a smart, ongoing conversation with a friend.
We saw major sites like Helsinki Cathedral, Senate Square, and Uspenski Cathedral, but the Central Library was a real highlight, both architecturally and as an example of how much Finland invests in public, shared spaces and its people.
