Here’s an overview of your tour

Go beyond Colombo and get ready for a 4-day private day trip together with your private local host Dulshan. Discover Sri Lankan culture like never before! See the most important sights of the island, enjoy peace and quiet in nature, some hustle and bustle of the city and some beautiful temples. En route to Kandy, you’ll visit a local tea plantation and factory with some of the best teas in the world! See how locals work and admire the breathtaking view while you sip on a cup of tea. Before grabbing a delicious local lunch, Immerse yourself in stunning nature at the largest botanical garden of Sri Lanka. Being one of Asia’s finest kind, it was once reserved exclusively for Kandyan royalty! Marvel at a 40m-high Burma bamboo, a fine collection of orchids, sky-high royal palm trees, and more! Or visit Udawattakele Forest Reserve also known as "the garden above the royal palace" or the “forbidden forest.” Walking below the sheltered paths of trees we might be lucky enough to see birds and deer in the thick jungle canopy. Make your way to a viewpoint where you can admire the city of Kandy. Go down to the market where you can explore the local vibes, see colorful buses and stroll by the lake. Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic awaits inside the Temple of the Tooth which is regarded as a symbolic representation of the living Buddha. Your local guide can tell you all about its history before wrapping up your first day!

Rise and shine and get ready for day two! The Hindu Temple in Matale is a low-key monastery to peacefully start your day. Admire religious paintings and deities. Continue to the traditional Sri Lankan village of Habarana where your host will take you for a Bullock cart ride around town. Immerse yourself in the local culture and grab a local favorite vegetarian lunch. Head to the Sigiriya Lion Rock that’s referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Marvel at The Mirror wall that is painted with inscriptions and poems. Feeling adventurous? Then head to the Pidurangala Rock for a climb. Your reward for your efforts will be the best view of Sigiriya!

Day three starts with a drive to Polonnaruwa that was once a commercial and religious center where kings ruled central plains. Check out the remainders of the glorious past, admire the royal palace, archaeological gems, ancient buildings, temples, and statues. Feeling peckish? Your host can point out the best lunch spots. The afternoon is all about watching nature in action! Hop on an exclusive 1.5-hr jeep safari through the Minneriya National Park where you can see elephants and wildlife, many land types, rocks and forests.

Top off day four with a visit to the Dambulla Rock Temple. Located on the stunning surrounding plains of Dambulla, it’s home to the world's most praised cave complex of impressive Buddha images and rock paintings of bright colors and shapes. Don’t forget to pay a short visit to the city of Dambulla to check out the economic center. See the hustle and bustle of the wholesale market, friendly locals and large trucks that deal fruits and vegetables all around the country. Treat yourself to a delicious curd made from sweet buffalo milk, before heading back to your accommodation in Colombo. I will be happy to share stories and the history of Sri Lanka while experiencing local culture, food and wildlife. This tour can be shaped around your wishes!
