Experience Food Tours in Chiang Mai with Withlocals

"We had the pleasure of a memorable 3 hours with our guide Naphat. During this tour we would visit several venues where we would taste 5 (or more) dishes. Naphat informed us that we would be tasting Chiang Mai's signature street food and that all the vendors had been vetted for their quality. We began with a tasting of arguably Chiang Mai's famous street food Khao Soi Gai. We also purchased some Khao Kha Moo and sat down to eat. They were both delicious and perfectly represented the amazing complex flavours in Thai cuisine. I have to say that the Khao Kha Moo was my favourite with its delectable gooey gelatinous pork melting in our mouths. Next we visited a local food market where we purchased some Sai Oua (Pork Sausage) and Chiang Mai's street food version of KFC. We stood on a bridge looking over Chiang Mai's night time lights twinkling over the river while we ate our delicious food with some sticky rice. Naphat has a infectious charismatic personality and we found ourselves deep in philosophical conversation between mouthfuls of delectable Thai street food. We thoroughly recommend Naphat. You will love her company and the food that she presents."

My partner and I have very different tastes—and to make things trickier, neither of us eat spicy food—so we weren’t exactly the easiest guests to please. We booked the tour last minute and yet it was so well organised, catered perfectly to our very difficult group of people (oldest 80, youngest 2!) and was so seamless! "We did two tours with Ae. The first one was a food tour around Chiang Mai and we had a ball. Ae is so knowledgeable and personable at the same time. She makes everything fun and we ate so much! The next tour we did with her was a bike ride through the countryside and we actually went through her hometown and because she knew I love coffee so much, she took us to her favorite coffee shop and then we went to the roaster to see how the coffee was roasted. she’s great at tailoring things and finding cool things for one to look at. And she always make sure we have enough to eat and drink! On the bike ride through the country, I was bitten by a dog which is a real fluke and she was quick to take out her first aid kit and put iodine on it and then we all went to the emergency room which was a great experience and she took care of everything. We can’t wait to return to Chiang Mai and when we do we will definitely use her again for any tour. "

"We did the private Night Market and Street Food tour with Purichat during our visit to Chiang Mai and it was a truly fascinating introduction to Northern Thai food! We had a larger group of seven people with varying degrees of adventurousness when it came to food and Purichat did a great job balancing all of the food selections taking us to taste more familiar dishes like Pad Thai as well as new dishes like Khanom chin nam ngiao ( a noodle soup made from fermented bean paste and chicken blood). We also had requests from a couple people in the group to do some shopping which she made sure to include in the tour, taking us to a local market to pick up some things and also sample a few Thai snacks. If you have a free evening in Chiang Mai I would highly recommend this tour with Purichat!"
