""All pintxos bars are the same", is what I said after trying to tour them by myself. BUT after spending about 3 hours with Usua, I realized that my tourist-centric perspective couldn't have been more WRONG. Usua is brilliant, an art historian and native of San Sebastián who brought a perspective to the bars and restaurants of Old Town that I never would have discovered on my own. The reason I thought they were all the same was because I didn't understand the stories, the history, and the nuances of each of the bars, and each of the pintxos. Usua brought all this to life for me, and had me tasting items I NEVER would have ordered myself. It turns out that each of the places has a specialty, but it's not obvious unless you know what to ask for. There's a anchovy specialty location, a beef cheeks specialty, a txistorra specialty, and the best place to taste the iconic Basque cheesecake. This was a fantastic education for me, because I've been too busy ordering plain-old shrimp! I discovered the iconic Gilda and the reason behind eating this one first. I learned the history of pintxos and gained greater appreciation of the art behind them. I highly recommend Usua for a private tour through the old town of San Sebastián because it not only fills your belly, but your mind as well."

"Georgia is a Greek diamond found in the extortionate city of San Sebastián. By all means you can do a Pintxos tour yourself but frankly you need to do both. Firstly with Georgia to understand how it all works, to take you to the primo places and then explore yourself. Georgia has a winning smile that will brighten up any day. Great fun."
