"This was our first time booking a tour through "with locals." We were hoping for more of an insider's view of Porto that would include some iconic spots and also street art, places to shop where local artists are supported, and restaurant recommendations. Carlos delivered on all of this plus more: pointed out free museums (I visited the photo museum later - loved it!), a little history, fun facts, interesting stories, things to notice and look for in the architecture and tiles, an understanding of the layout of Porto... We tried many of the foods / spots Carlos recommended -- they were awesome! Carlos is warm and personable and an excellent guide! He definitely made our stay in Porto special. Thank you Carlos!!"

"Oh my goodness this tour was unbelievable with Mayumi. We were a bit late finding her and she guided us and was understanding. The whole tour felt like a family member was showing us around her neighborhood. Each stop was perfectly prepared with our food/drinks before arriving and that allowed us more time to visit and see more things. "Our family of 5 adults (2 parents and 3 young adult children) from the USA had another fantastic With-Locals experience in Porto, Portugal, with Orlando on the Hidden Gems tour. Honestly, we have had only 10-star tours so far with this tour company, and our latest in Porto did not disappoint. First, Orlando's English was excellent. We never once had any difficulty understanding him or hearing him. This makes the experience so much more pleasant when we are not straining to understand. Orlando spent a lot of time in England, so his vocabulary and usage are incredible; in fact, as Americans we picked up on a slight English accent from his time there, which was really neat! Secondly, Orlando picked a great meeting place and itinerary, and he was punctual and gave us a full, exciting tour. Our areas of interest were history, architecture, and culture, with some port wine expertise thrown in, and Orlando catered well to our interests. He knew so much Porto and Portuguese history. Our previous With Locals tour was in Lisbon where we also learned some history; Orlando's knowledge matched and added to that of the previous tour, which was helpful not only for confirmation of accuracy, but also to aid us in remembering. Third, Orlando gave us a detailed lesson of culture, which included several visits to Porto's churches. It is quite clear that it is impossible to understand Porto's and Portugal's culture without understanding the religion woven through it. Orlando took us into one church where we were able to see the mummified remains of 3 popes. Amazing... and weird, but our group loved it! Now that's something you don't see everyday! Fourth, he knew a lot about the port wine industry, which was useful in picking good wines to sample and transport home. Lastly, at the end of the tour, he pulled out a map that we could keep and marked some highlights that he suggested we see on our own in the following days of our stay. He gave us a wonderful recommendation for a port tour, which we did visit. It was the best port we had tasted in Porto. Overall, our tour with Orlando was one of the highlights of our time there. Orlando was engaging, funny, spoke perfect English, had incredible knowledge, and expressed well his love of Porto and its people. He told stories that made us LOL, took us on a beautiful walk through the city, and showed us how Porto is growing and changing. Even though there were two of us who were feeling under the weather, the whole group loved our time with Orlando. We highly recommend him, this tour, and would book him again in a heartbeat if we return to Porto!"
