We learned a lot about Portuguese history and culture, all while enjoying delicious bites from one of Andre’s favorite local restaurants. He accepted our last-minute booking, and upon learning I needed to eat gluten free (a tall order in Portugal), he went all the way across town to the one gluten-free bakery to ensure that I, too, could enjoy a traditional Portuguese dessert—a flaky pastry filled with custard. It was so thoughtful of him and emblematic of the type of care he puts into every guest’s experience.
