"We spent a most wonderful afternoon with Marzia and enjoyed our conversations with her. She took time answering our questions and providing in-depth history of the Venetian people and Republic, as well as contemporary living and how it has been impacted by the past. Marzia speaks very fluent English. Visiting Venice for our first time, it was so different from exposure from movies, documentaries, travel shows and You Tube! WE were eager to learn how and why these islands were settled and expanded over time; but her ability to personalize topics of your particular interests to make the information more accessible is outstanding! While walking among and experiencing the buildings, streets and canals, we learned about the role Venice played in trade over the \"Silk Road\" and the strategies of its rulers to remain a sovereign Republic State over many centuries. We discussed so many things that enabled us to begin to understand the many aspects of history that are seldom addressed in travel presentations on \"Venice\". Marzia also shared several stories, some personal/family, some historically based legends, describing early life in a manner that we could imagine being there. We received SO much more with this one-on-one experience than with most group tours, even those with small groups. We were able to speak very personally and directly with an enjoyable and knowledgeable person who loves to share and teach about her home! We were simply amazed and so very glad to have made this connection with our new Venetian friend, Marzia! The time passed too fast!
