"Michael was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and showed us all around Galway. He told us about much of the history of the city and took us to many points of interest. He pointed out many places to check out (pubs and restaurants). He was really friendly and a really great guy amen guide. A+"

We learned about “murder holes” and the origins of words like “lynch” and “boycott.” Being on a small, personal tour with just my mum & her 4 daughters was perfect because my 85 year old mum walks pretty slow. Derek was able to pace the tour to our needs. We could always hear him easily because of the small group and he was open to all our questions. We really enjoyed the tour and talked about the things we learned all afternoon. "
"Derek is a great guy and great story teller. Deep knowledge of Irish history and Galway. The tour started on Eyre Square and took us through the Latin Quarter. The tour covered the rich history of Galway City and Derek points out the hidden historical gems along the way. We loved it. Would recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your stay in Galway. "

"We booked two day tours with Derek: the Cliffs of Moher and Connemara. Apart from the wonderful landscapes, Derek showed us various places - no spoiler - and very nice restaurants. It was a brillant experience! Derek is kind of an encyclopedia (Wikipedia for the younger) about Ireland, the region, the history, the culture, the language, sports, etc. - his knowledge is so impressive! Derek is a splendid, very nice guide. We'll certainly return to Galway someday, and will certainly book a tour with him again. "Spent a good portion of our day with Derek with a trip to Connemara area. The scenery was spectacular. Typically one thinks of Ireland as green fields and stonewalls. By getting out or Galway City we were able so see the mountains and lakes of this beautiful area. Derek had a solid plan for the day and was more than accommodating to our wishes. This was so much more that a bus with 50+ of your closest friends. One on one with a local who is excited and proud to show you his city and country is the way to go.
If you think of going on a tour with any of the many tour type companies, look into With Locals and specifically Derek.
