"We were expecting to be told off because we were late (don’t underestimate how long it takes to get places in Varanasi!) but Bhawna was all smiles and reassurance! She took us up into the alleys to eat some of the most amazing food, sharing tables with locals and really getting a sense of the city beyond what we’d have dared to do without having a born and bred Varanasi lass with us. She answered all our nosey questions about life in the city and finished the tour with “is there anything else you’d like to see?” Her impeccable English and relaxed and humorous style meant the whole evening felt like being out with a friend rather than a tour guide.
