"Seth met us at our hotel in Berlin and took us all the way to the camp and back. We were a family of 6 with 2 grandchildren, 2 parents and 2 grandparents. Seth set a pace that worked for all of us and helped us all understand what we were seeing. He was knowledgeable about the whole camp system and that helped us gain a broader perspective. He adjusted timing when it rained and made sure we had time for a quick lunch before boarding the train back to Berlin. He saw us all the way to the hotel before departing.
He met all our expectations and we all were glad we went.
Lastly, as a Texan living in Germany, he spoke perfect English. "
"Chris was a very friendly and entertaining guide. He was cleary passionate and had endless knowledge about the history of the camp and even more anecdotes. His way of explaining made history come alive.
We learned a lot and had a nice day! "
"Pietro was wonderful! He made our tour well informed and truly memorable. We would definitely book again with him. Visiting the camp is really sobering and Pietro was such a Professional. Thank you!"

Sachsenhausen Private Tour from Berlin
"Although few remnants of the camp still remain, there is still a sense of horror by the details of the camp that are still present today, such as the tall walls, barbed wire, detention centre (which still has hanging poles, prison cells and a pit), and also checkpoint Z.
The tour was very informative many thanks to our guide Lynsey, who did a brilliant job in explaining in depth everything that went on within the camp and all the events that led to its creation.
Well worth the trip if you want to gain an authentic sense of what happened prior and during WW2."
Journey into one of history's most sobering chapters on a private Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp tour. With a local guide, you'll gain a respectful and profound understanding of this memorial's past.
History of Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp
Established in 1936, Sachsenhausen was a key concentration camp in Nazi Germany. Designed as a 'model' camp, its triangular layout was meant to represent absolute power. Learn its dark history with a guide.
The Architecture of Sachsenhausen Camp
The camp's unique architecture, a perfect triangle, was designed for total surveillance from a single guard tower. A chilling example of how design can be used for oppression and control.
Famous Prisoners of Sachsenhausen Tour
Theologian Martin Niemöller, known for his powerful poem 'First they came...', was held at Sachsenhausen. His and other prisoners' stories of resistance and survival are essential parts of the visit.
Sachsenhausen After WWII
After its liberation in 1945, the Soviets used parts of Sachsenhausen as a special camp until 1950. A private tour can help unravel the complex layers of this site's post-war history.
The Sachsenhausen Memorial Today
Today, the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum serves as a place of remembrance and education. Visiting with a local guide provides context and personal insight into this solemn and important historical site.

Brilliant.
"Chris was engaging, funny, incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of this amazing city. One half of us hadn't been to Berlin before and has stated several times how much he gained from the tour.
3 hours flew by, a thoroughly enjoyable way to see Berlin.
Cheers Chris, you're what tour guides should be (and thanks for the tips on beer and food, we LOVED the mad scientist bar!)"
1st december I've been to Sachsenhausen with a small group.
"We joined the whole tour with our guide Chris.
I can already tell I've never had such a nice guide, he was calm and was really interested in the group and tour, when there were questions he stood ready to answer them and also very informative, I felt his passion for his job.
Eventho the day was cold and it was a difficult day I'm glad I joined, I had mixed feelings with being on the place but it helped when Chris talked during the tour. He was on moments serious but on other moments he tried to comfort us, which means a lot to me personally.
I recommend Chris as a tour guide! He's young and driven. I also have respect for him cause he's from Canada and now a tour guide in Berlin, learned a lot on his own, like the language, moved to Berlin."
"When our group booked, we had a plan that if it wasn’t great we would leave and go off and do our own thing... This was quickly abandoned when we met Canadian Chris! He clearly loves his job and is so passionate about history that he makes the whole experience interesting and engaging from the very beginning!
The tour lasts about 3 hours but is set at a good pace and takes you to lots of Berlin’s famous sites. It’s packed full of information, facts and trivia and was honestly a fantastic way to see the City and to learn about the Country’s epic history!
If you’re looking for the best way to experience Berlin I would seriously recommend trying to get on Canadian Chris’s tour. He is a credit to the Sandemans company and is definitely the best guide in Berlin! His love of the City is infectious and we had the most amazing time! In fact we thought he was so good that we’ve set up our own ‘Canadian Chris Appreciation Society’ FB page for fans of the tour to share recommendations and reviews!"
"This tour is a must when in Berlin. It is extremely informative and it is really quite an experience to see a Nazi concentration camp. Our tour guide had a masters degree in history and spent time working in the archives of the Sachsenhausen Memorial making her the absolute perfect guide for the tour. She was extremely knowledgable and was able to thoroughly answer any outside questions that we had. She has also gone through the trouble of making a google map with all her recommendations in Berlin which she was kind enough to share with anyone on the tour."
"Pietro provided a great tour and historical background for our day at Sachsenhausen. His passion for his craft, and his respect for this memorial site and it’s victims, made for an awesome experience in learning more about this dark time in history. Highly recommend. "
