Reviews from guests about our tours and locals
"My sister and I spent 2.5 hours with Sara, more or less, learning about the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall. She was punctual, amiable, and incredibly prepared. We were astounded at the effort put into planning her wonderful tour, from her carefully curated binder of printed historical maps and photographs for reference, to the way she seemed to deftly personalise our initial (and much-needed) contextual history lesson, making the entire experience feel bespoke. Sara is a wealth of knowledge, and taking the tour with her was the best decision of our trip! We can’t wait to see her again to learn more. Thank you, Sara! Xx "
"My husband and I had such a great experience with Martin. We were only in Berlin for a few days and this was a great way to see an historical side to the city and learn a lot about the city's past. I works definitely recommend Martin and this tour. We learned a lot and had great conversation. Thank you Martin for sharing your knowledge and introducing us to Berlin!"
"Lee took me on a fascinating tour along the perimeter of the Berlin wall. He is a gifted and passionate storyteller who knows his history and who was able to answer all my questions. Furthermore, he was very friendly company, I enjoyed the tour and learnt a lot. "
"Claudia is fantastic! Not only did she come to the hotel and picked us up for the tour ‘Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall’, but included Checkpoint Charlie as well. It was a very hot day but she kept us on point, took us by Ubahb and Sbagn where necessary and gave us a very good understanding of how it was for 30 years. The account was even more poignant given she was from East Germany. She even showed us Haus Shwartzen Museum which was fascinating (have to come back to explore the museum) and a peek into Hackescher Hof. We had a superb time going back into history and coming out into untied Germany. "
"We enjoyed a great 2 hour tour with Miha exploring the Berlin Wall. Miha was very knowledgeable, explaining some of the landmarks that we would have overlooked if we had been on our own. Miha navigated us seamlessly through Berlin’s transit system and gave us a deeper understanding of what it must have been like to be in Berlin both when the wall went up and living in present day Berlin. We had a really enjoyable afternoon with Miha - thank you!"
"We had an excellent tour of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie with our guide Juan. He presented the history and tragedy of the Berlin Wall in such a lively, engaging, and interesting way that it was never boring for a moment. What impressed us most was Juan’s empathy and his ability to explain this difficult and emotional chapter of history in a way that was also perfectly understandable for our children, aged 9 and 13. It was amazing to see how much they remembered from Juan’s explanations afterwards. Juan gave an outstanding presentation, combining historical facts with personal stories and a very engaging way of speaking. He made the history of the Berlin Wall come alive and helped us understand not only what happened, but also the human tragedy behind it. We can highly recommend Juan to anyone looking for an excellent guide to learn about the history of the Berlin Wall. He was knowledgeable, passionate, engaging, and simply excellent at what he does. Thank you, Juan, for such a memorable and fascinating experience!"
"Seth was engaging and knowledgeable - delivering the tour in an enjoyable and responsive way, patient and clear when answering our questions. Everyone in our group got what we wanted from it! Thank you, Seth!"
"Martin was our guide during our tour about the Iron Curtain, the Cold War. He had a lot of things to share, we were happy about that. Martin made a connection during this tour between the past and the now. For our 19 year old daughter, Martin was someone she could talk with at an academic level. After the tour, we had a lot to talk and feel about. Thank you for that, Martin! We have learned and have seen a lot. We are thankful!"
"Martin is a wonderful tour guide. He is well-informed regarding the history of East Berlin. We went to various sites together where I learned interesting details of how East Berlin came to be what it is today. I left with a deeper appreciation of German history and what makes Berlin the fascinating and intriguing city that it is today. "

The Glienicke Bridge became known as the 'Bridge of Spies.' High-profile prisoner exchanges between the East and West took place here, making it a legendary site of Cold War Berlin espionage.
Life in East Berlin was heavily monitored by the Stasi, the state security service. A private tour can reveal the hidden listening posts and stories of surveillance that defined daily life for millions.
While West Berliners enjoyed the Currywurst, East Berliners cherished simple staples like the Spreewald gherkin. Food became a subtle but important part of the cultural divide during the Cold War.
The desire for freedom inspired incredible escape attempts. People used hot air balloons, secret tunnels, and modified cars to cross the border, showing immense courage against the oppressive regime.
