Reviews from guests about our tours and locals
"like many (most?) i signed up for this tour because of the classic, ‘a movable feast’, hemingway’s late-in-life memoir of paris in the 1920’s. i know and enjoy the story. i’ve been to some of the ‘sites’ on previous visits to the city. what i wanted was to think about how the city was then and try to compare it to the modern mass tourism metropolis we see today. Isabel and i did more talking about things than looking at things. i’m not philosophic, but my question became, ‘when we do things like visit paris or go on *literary walks* what is it we want out of the experience?’ why am i/we/people doing this? Isabel got it (i think) and was able to think along with me (again, in my opinion). it was a good talk i enjoyed the time with Isabel. she’s the real deal: smart, accomplished, an artist and phd candidate. more than qualified. the people running this business are lucky to have her. if you’re a true hemingway nut, this tour might be a bit of a disappointment. there are some plaques, cobbled streets, plenty of cafes (most not the original) and the wonderful luxembourg gardens (Isabel shared plenty of non-hemmingway paris history too). maybe they could have jazzed the tour up: read selections from the book at different spots, stop for a plate of oysters and a cold, dry white wine (but folks can do that on their own can’t they?) (as an aside, it is still possible to buy oysters in the area where hemingway lived. they’re sold from open widows on the sidewalk. i wonder if that’s because of the book? his description of that meal has likely sold a lot of shellfish over the years.) it’s a wonderful book. reading it makes you want to experience paris. the title, ‘a moveable feast’ is such an accurate and succinct description of the city, they should have trademarked it. for literary types, americans in particular, the romance of ‘the lost generation’ (born out of tragedy and wreckages of ww i) along with the idea of ‘paris in the 1920’s’ will endure. and that’s ok. they have to decide how and why it still matters. this tour can maybe help with that especially with the benefit of a thoughtful guide such as Isabel"

"Iveta showed us places we would never have found on our own. She knows the quiet paths around the City which was very nice. She knows her history and her love for Paris shows. "
"This was my second tour with Lucien and again he was amazing. His knowledge of Paris is quite extraordinary and he tells it in a friendly and sometimes humorous way. I highly recommend Lucien !"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our morning walk with Welly. He was engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his city. He checked in with us frequently about the pace of the tour and was able to answer our questions. He also gave us some great recommendations for places to eat. Would recommend him highly. "
"Our family had the best tour with Louis. He really listened to our interests and questions and was able to share a unique perspective about everything from university life and admissions to the history of every street as well as current cultural and political trends. He took us for tastings of locally sourced jams and also oil and vinegar that were fantastic. Louis gave amazing bookstore, restaurant, and theater recommendations as well. I highly recommend this tour!"

"We greatly enjoyed our 2 and 3/4 hour tour with Luis in the Latin Quarter. He showed used around the Sorbonne and other interesting streets around there and in Saint-Germain de Pres.
