Are you a fan of the popular TV series, Outlander? Or a cinephile who loves to be swept away by dramatic film settings? Join me on a private day trip to explore memorable filming locations outside Edinburgh and in East Lothian.
Visit Craigmillar Castle on the outskirts of Edinburgh, which played an important role in Scotland’s bloody history. Listen to ancient stories of doomed romance, devious plots and heart-wrenching betrayals, all happening here a long time ago. Discover why this location was the perfect setting for Mary, Queen of Scots’ film set, Outlaw King, as well as the Ardsmuir Prison in Outlander.
Venture to East Lothian with me and immerse in the sumptuous luxury of the elegant Gosford House, which showcases a charming neoclassical architectural style. Used as a stand-in for Versaille as well as the grand house in Outlander, there are many wonderful stories to tell here. So, let's stretch our legs with a 30-minute walk around the stunning estate while listening to fascinating stories.
We can choose to break for lunch in the charming village of Dirleton or the tranquil town of Gullane before proceeding to Preston Mill, which was used as Lallybroch in season 1 of Outlander.
On the way back, we will end our private tour by driving through some of the picturesque villages of East Lothian. And if you have any other requests in mind, let me know, and I’ll personalize the tour accordingly.
