Are you in search of a truly extraordinary experience? Look no further! Join me for an unforgettable journey through Holland aboard my quirky Ural sidecar. This unique mode of transportation will take you to places beyond the usual tourist routes, allowing you to discover the true heart of Holland.

From picturesque rivers, lush forests, and serene lakes to enchanting medieval castles and majestic royal palaces, this tour will show you the very best of what Holland has to offer. As your driver and guide, I'll provide plenty of context and amusing anecdotes, making sure that you not only see the sights, but also learn about the culture and history of this fascinating country.

So get ready to spread some cheer and make some new friends on this unforgettable journey. Don't miss out on this amazing experience - it's the ultimate road trip unlike any other!

Your itinerary

  • Meeting point

    Utrecht
  • Slot Zuylen

13th century castle. The Dutch eighteenth-century French-speaking writer and composer Belle van Zuylen lived here. She was extra-ordinary well educated and quite emancipated. Known for her many books, correspondences and striking statements: 'I have no talent for subordination' and 'I want to be a citizen of "everyone's country".'
  • River Vecht

Nice curvy river. In the 17th and 18th centuries many known country estates were built on the banks of the Vecht by rich VOC merchants and administrators from Amsterdam.
  • The windmills of Zuylen

Windmills to keep the Dutch from drowning :-)
  • Breukelen (Brooklyn;-)

The impressive Nyenrode castle from about 1275 AC and now International Business University.
  • Bethunepolder

The Bethune polder is a polder is a small polder that was almost impossible to get dry. Recreation and nature conservation are central. Many special animal and plant species are found in the Bethune polder.
  • Windmill "De Trouwe Waghter"

This 1832 mill protected people in hiding during WWII. An extraordinary story.
  • Loosdrechtse Plassen

The Loosdrechtse Plassen (Lakes of Loosdrecht) are a large water sports and nature area between Amsterdam and Utrecht.
  • Castle Sypesteyn

    Medieval fairytalish beauty.
  • Lage Vuursche

Lage Vuursche has a protected village view with several eighteenth and nineteenth century houses and counts dozens of national monuments. The reformed church dates from 1650 and the big rock is from the Ice Age.
  • Nature Reserve het Gooi

Forest near Lage Vuursche with beautiful 'forest tunnel roads'.
  • Paleis Soestdijk

The original 17th-century building at Soestdijk is an ex-royal palace. From 1937 it was the residence of crown princess and later pacifist Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and her German military enthusiast husband Prince Bernhard von Lippe-Biesterfeld.
  • Nieuwe-Wetering

Not even a village. Very rural. Nice farm houses.
  • Geesina Windmill

The Geesina is a flour mill which was probably built in 1843. It is restored and still produces flour.
  • Fortress Ruigenhoek

A fortress of the New Dutch Water Line Defence System built in the years 1869-1870. Unfortunately in 1940 the Germans were able to fly over it ;-)
